Welcome to Software Freedom Day

The objectives of software freedom day this year, besides those stated on the SFD web site, is to grow the developer/hacker/geek community in Johannesburg and Pretoria in general and the open source community in particular. The hope is that we can use SFD as an event around which we can realise more longer term objective of getting user groups to work together to create a sustainable culture of technological innovation and skills development in South Africa and Southern Africa.
